Ok why not mate ? So I need a vr6 one ? Any other parts I can't use ?

Because the harness is different, yes you need a vr6 harness.

I was told if it was after 1996 I could use it ?

You need mk3 vr6 engine, transmission, supframe, wiring from engine to the relay panel. This wiring will plug into the mk2 panel. You still need to figure out the pedal assembly as mk3s are hydraulic clutch

Glad I finally found a forum that helps!

I've read over the thread, but I just wanted to see if anyone knows which year is most ideal for the vr6 swap? I have a 1990 Jetta Gl that I want to swap the engine into, and this is my first ever swap. I understand the Corrado is a good place to start, but is there a specific year that's better than the others? If you have any help that would be great. I'm sure I'll have more questions, but that's the biggest one for now.

Thanks guys!

Morning all

Need a little advice, im fairly familiar with vr6s having had a few and done a couple conversions in the past "all obd1 though"

i just done a 0bd2 98 vr6 swap from a mk3 into my friends late mk2 " every thing works as it should but when i plug the engine speed sensor wire into W1 the engine doesn't rev properly it back fires and misses, disconnected and it revs fine.

Any ideas? thanks in advance
