My Mk2 VR6 Turbo

Postby VWallin » Tue Sep 24, 2013 2:23 pm

Hi everybody. My name is Mikael and im from northern Sweden. I've owned this car since i
got my drivers license (10 years ago) and it's my precious baby! It started out as a 1988 GTI 16v
with low mileage and very good body/paint. It still to this day has the original monza blue paint on it!

Anyhow about 6 years ago i got fed up with the 1.8l 16v engine and threw in a 1.8t engine instead but
that engine never got fired up. The car was abandoned on a field at my parents house for about 2 years after that failure.

In the fall of 2009 i towed the car out of the field to give it a second chance of life with a vr6 swap!
I thought the body would be all rusty and damaged after 2 years of buried in both snow and high grass
but fortunately it was still in very good shape. A thorough cleaning and polish was all that was needed.

The car started up with the vr6 spring 2010 and has since then had a couple of engines in different
shapes. It was NA until spring 2012 when the mighty vr6t cranked to life!

Some engine specs:

Boosting 2bar/30psi on E85 fuel

Stock rods
Stock pistons
Fresh rebuilt block
Mild port and polished head
9:1 cr drop with headspacer
1700cc Bosch high-z injectors
Link G4 Storm Standalone
Holset HX52 billet turbo
Shortrunner intake manifold.
Arp head studs
12.9 bolts on main bearing caps
Tial 38mm wastegate
4" Downpipe stainless
3,5inch exhaust
12.9 bolt on rod bearing caps
Innovate MTX-L Wideband
Dual bosch 044

Rest of the car:

Full g60 bodykit
Monza blue paint
Brock b6 9x16 wheels
Votex rear wing
Edition one interior
Mk3 cluster
Vr6 front and rear subframe with 5x100 bolt pattern
Stock vr6 discs and calipers.

Future plans then. I've killed quite alot of transmissions this summer so i've decided
that im going to convert it to 4motion and build a new fully built engine with powergoal
around 800whp. It's still going to be my summer daily though so im keeping it witout
rollcage and racing seats. Keeping the backseat and stereo to :)
Oh and it will be fully street legal with all those mods if i register it as a rebuilt vehicle here in Sweden!

Excuse my grammar and spelling, English is a second language to me.

Cracking car mate, although personally i'm not a fan of double headlight grilles, quadruple all the way! Your English is excellent by the way.

Bought a syncro for my 4motion conversion! Cutting out tunnel, boot floor and removing all the bits
needed for transplant.
